Autopilot

When was the last time you tried something new?

Autopilot is brilliant for airplanes but less so for human beings. The problem is that we are all too willing, even eager sometimes, to achieve a sort of unthinking plane. To live a life of planned plans, scheduled events, checked lists, etc. There is great comfort in repetitive things. You can see this is young children who can seem a bit obsessive compulsive at times, but are really only taking comfort in knowing how to do something and doing it. But it’s also a trap …

Get Scared, Please

Yesterday was a bad day, rushing one of the kids to the hospital for what might have been a very serious situation. In the end everything was OK (*** update below), and he’ll probably have a full recovery in 2-3 weeks. Today we were all ready for some Fun! to blow out that helpless, panicked feeling, so we went adventuring.
